Some Nearby Places of Interest

Leigh Woods is ideally situated to take advantage of many local places of interest, as well as a number of regular and periodic events (see the Dates & Events page for what’s happening).

There are many existing sources of information for residents in Leigh Woods as well as people visiting the area. Some of these are listed below with links to more information. We have recently added a picture of Rownham House which one of our residents lived in as a child with her parents who helped run the household.

If you have any further links which you think would be of interest to residents and should be included in this section, please get in touch with Ian McKay (see Contacts).

Other Sites of Interest

One of the Leigh Woods residents, Bob Golding, has set up a website for people interested in the animals of West Africa. He spent many years working with animals in West Africa, first with  Gerald Durrell in Cameroon in 1957 (see Durrell's book 'A Zoo in my  Luggage'), then developing the Zoological Garden at the University of  Ibadan, Nigeria, from 1963 to 1979. Browse the site www.bobgolding.co.uk to see some interesting images of animals, people and places and read some fascinating stories.
